One year ago, a hundred laborers came together in Chicago to kick off a movement—Laborers Rising. We gathered with a shared mission: to protect our union work, strengthen our union lives, and build our power to one million members. We set a bold goal to move 15,000 laborers into action—and smashed that target six months ahead of schedule!
In the past year, we've made incredible strides, building the power to control our own future as laborers. Here’s what we’ve achieved together:
- Hundreds of power trainings to understand how power works and how we can wield it.
- Countless community service projects—from food banks to back-to-school drives, providing backpacks for kids in need.
- Deepened connections with laborers supporting each other through life’s challenges—living out solidarity.

We know that sometimes, we have to engage in politics to defend ourselves and our future. Right now, that time is here. As much as we wish our unions and way of life weren’t at stake—they are. And we’re rising to meet the challenge.
